One of the first responses I hear when people are feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of eating healthier and nourishing their bodies is “But how I can do that while eating on a budget?”. I get it. I soooooo get it! BUT, here’s the big BUT, Eating on a Budget, healthfully, is absolutely possible.
So here are some of the ways you can slash the grocery bill and still eat healthfully.
your local Sunday Paper
The Houston Chronicle costs $2.50 so that means if you cut at least $2.50 in coupons than you “break even”. Anything more than that is BIG savings in your pocket. Now I will say that most of the coupons will be for processed food products that will NOT nourish your body. Those are not the ones to snip and save. But, if you can save money on toilet paper, paper towels, ziplock bags, shampoo, diapers, and other household items, etc. then it will free you up to save a little more on the higher-quality foods.
digital coupons on grocery store loyalty cards
Digital coupons on grocery store websites and smartphones apps are the BEST. It’s so easy! You simply sign up, select the coupons of foods and household items you would like to purchase, and the coupons are automatically applied at the grocery store after they scan your loyalty card or you enter your phone number. You don’t have to keep up with any coupons while in the store.
I seriously update my Kroger coupons on my phone while watching tv at night. SUPER EASY!! And look how much I have saved from January 1, 2016 to October 1, 2016. Need I say more?

Grocery Store Print Coupons
If you sign up for their loyalty card and request to be on their mailing list, they will send you Home Mailers that are loaded with tons of coupons that are tailored to your most frequently purchased groceries! My home mailers are full of coupons for all-natural and organic meats, Clif bars for the kids, and even our favorite ultra-thin Sargento cheese slices for sandwiches. And several times a year, we receive coupons like $19 off a $190 purchase!!
Make sure you go to the contact section and provide your mailing address!
I don’t shop at Whole Foods a lot as I find them rather expensive and the traffic where our Whole Foods in Katy, Texas is just horrendous! BUT, they do have a click and print coupon program. Just click the Whole Foods logo below, then click-through and select the coupons you would like to use and print! It’s that easy! Plus, Whole Foods has a lot more healthy, real food coupons than your typical grocery.
